Free the Robot is like a transformer. You know, like the type that fights for Cybertron but doesn’t actually mange to hit anything with its laser. During the days the venue functions as a quirky cafe; at nights it turns into Bitter and Love, a fun cocktail bar.
The Italian restaurant Magazzino was opened almost a year ago by the same people behind the burger chain Moses, Zozobra and the pizza joint Tony Vespa. The huge, urban hangar is situated right in the heart of the construction works on Harekevet street, making access harder. However, there’s a big parking lot right at the entrance to the restaurant. The place is aimed towards large groups and families. This was evident when we visited on a Friday lunch and saw it packed with parents and their kids. We were seated right by the entrance, where every person opening the door also gifted us with a gust of hot and humid summer air. It didn’t help that next to us sat a couple with a baby which once in a while tried to verify that their large stroller could not, in fact, move through solid objects like our chairs and table.
Claro is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Tel Aviv. If you were to ask me for a restaurant recommendation, one that fits both casual and celebratory events, Claro would be one of the first names to come up. The restaurant is located in Sarona, close to Ha’arbaa street inside a huge Templar structure. The main hall is spacious and impressive, boasting a large open kitchen and a bright, beautiful design. There are several seating options, each providing the patrons with a different experience. If this is your first time here, I recommend sitting on the bar to catch all the action as it unfolds in the kitchen.
Truck De Luxe has been a favorite of mine ever since they opened. The place is actually the second one from the folks behind Pundak De Luxe, which is located in the midst of Jaffa Flea Market. They opened Truck De Luxe right by Dizengoff Square, next to 6 in May restaurant that made aliyah from Jerusalem. First thing you’ll notice about this place is the big truck inside the restaurant. This place is the closest you’ll get to a food truck in Tel Aviv since there’s a municipal by law which prohibits peddling. This is really a shame since I love the food truck culture very much.
