If you have searched online for the perfect breakfast in Copenhagen I guess you read all about Grød, Cafe Granola, Mad & Kaffe and Møller Kaffe & Køkken. Wulff & Konstali is not as frequently mentioned online as the other places, so you might not have read about it (up until now, that is), but it’s definitely a place for you to add to your itinerary.
It’s not located in the center of Copenhagen, so getting there might require a short ride – but the metro will drop you off just a few minutes walk from the place – and the experience is truly worth it.
We arrived at Wulff & Konstali on Monday morning, around 10:00 and the place was already packed. The dining area is large, with many tables scattered around and one huge shared table in the middle of the room. The garden across the street hosts many tables as well, which looks like a nice alternative to inside seating during the summer. The place is nicely designed with industrial chic and pastel colors. The atmosphere is lively and upbeat, full of people ready to start their day on the right foot. Take into account that if you arrive later, you might have to wait a bit for a table to become available.
The brunch in Wulff & Konstali has a nice concept. You receive a menu with as many as 21 different delicacies to choose from, and tick the corresponding boxes to create your ideal brunch plate.
Brunch with 5 pieces cost 119 kr. / $18 / 68₪. If you’re uber hungry there’s also an option of 7 pieces for 149 kr. / $22.5 / 85.5₪. There are many options for vegetarian, gluten free and lactose free dishes conveniently marked on the menu.
We grabbed two menus and sat down to compose our perfect brunch plates. This is what we chose:
2 Slices of White Bread + Organic Butter
Almond Croissant
2 Organic Fried Eggs
Scrambled Eggs + Herbs
Avocado + Chia Seeds + Olive Oil
Skyr (organic icelandic yogurt) + Wild Swedish Blueberries + Sweet Crumbs + Poppy Seeds
Bacon From Grambogård
Smoked Salmon + Watercress Cream
Toast + Ricotta + Honey + Thyme
Chocolate Waffle + Raspberry Foam + Chocolate Sauce
The brunch does not include drinks so I ordered the Chai Latte (119 kr. / $5 / 20₪) and Opher got the Warm Chocolate (119 kr. / $5 / 20₪). Both hot drinks we ordered were fantastic as well and were served in large, ample mugs.
Shortly after ordering and sitting down, a waiter brought our breakfast to the table. First our drinks arrived with the bread and a pastry basket. A few minutes later we got the brunch plates neatly placed on a wooden tray.
The service at Wulff & Konstali is very courteous. For example – there was a mix up with our order. We accidently got Tebirkes (puff pastry with poppy seeds) instead of the Almond Croissant we ordered. When we told the waitress she promptly came to our table with a basket containing an almond croissant, and left the Tebirkes in the bread basket as well.
The attention to details here is obvious. Wulff & Konstali do their best to make sure every plate looks as appealing as it is tasty and it shows – the brunch plates are super photogenic!
Foodwise, everything was fantastic! Some of my favorites include the smoked salmon which was soft and tender. The watercress cream on top of the white bread was also a delight. The chia seeds as an avocado topping is an idea I already stole and implemented at home. The ricotta toast with honey and thyme is a gem you don’t want to miss.
Both of the eggs styles we ordered were cooked to perfection. The chocolate waffle was very nice but the only downside to ordering this dish is that by the time you will get to it (if you want to keep it as a dessert), the raspberry foam would have already turned to raspberry liquid.
All in all this was a really amazing breakfast experience. If you’re planning your visit (and you definitely should!), note there is another branch in Copenhagen, however they do not serve breakfast there.
