Scavenging through Instagram to build my foodie itinerary for Singapore I came across many pictures of a rubber ducky. Oddly enough – this wasn’t the case of mis-hashtagging we all often bump into in Instagram. Rather, this was an actual edible rubber ducky! Turns out this is one of the signature desserts at Non Entrée Desserts.
The cafe shop was opened by Alex Toh on Rangoon Road and is the home to many other whimsical desserts.
We got there in the evening and the place was fully packed! When we left, an 1.5 hours later, people were queuing waiting for a table.
The food is not the only fun thing here – the walls are painted yellow brightening up the space. On the wall a big rhinoceros mural and a neon sign contributing to the cool and industrial vibe.
The service was great – as we sat we received our menu and some water. The order itself is done at the front, where dainty pastry and ice cream is on display.
The menu has 2 sections: Desserts and Beverages. Desserts range from (11.9 SGD / $9 / 31₪) to (16.9 SGD / $12.5 / 44₪), while beverages start from (3.5 SGD / $2.5 / 9₪) (Espresso, Babychinno and Macchiato) and climb up to (6.9 SGD / $5 / 18₪) (Valrhona Hot\Cold Chocolate, Fizzy Tropical Float and Affogato).
The first dessert we ordered is the popular Rubber Ducky (11.9 SGD / $9.5 / 33.5₪). This dessert is made of crème fraîche pudding, fresh mango puree, sago pearls and exotic ducky sorbet. It sits atop a cloud of lemongrass.
Beside this dish being aesthetically pleasing and unique, it was also very much to our liking. It is more on the acidic and refreshing end. The mango sorbet has a great texture and the extra bits floating in it added playfulness and chewiness to every bite.
The second dessert we got is the Chocolate Avalanche (13.9 SGD / $10.5 / 36₪). This dessert is so fun to eat! The warm Valrhona chocolate lava is placed on top crunchy almond nougatine. When you cut this baby open the chocolate oozes and flows into the glass that is filled with chocolate soil and orange-infused vanilla ice cream.
I know the orange-chocolate combo is not for everybody’s liking but I love this mix of flavors. This dessert is fun and the combination of warm-cold is always a pleasure. This dessert is also available in Matcha and red bean flavor.
To end this sugar rollercoaster with a bitter finish, I ordered the Non Entrée Affogato (6.9 SGD / $5 / 18₪) and Opher got plain Cappuchino (5 SGD / $3.5 / 13₪).
I would defenily return to Non Entrée Desserts. They offer affordable, creative and high quality desserts in an inviting, relaxed vibe. They also feature new desserts all the time, which is another great plus.
